Kelsey Nicole Nelson is a leading broadcast journalist, public relations/marketing specialist and event host. As a freelance sports reporter/anchor Kelsey has covered some of the top sporting events on a local, state and national level — making a true mark in the sports media industry. Even at a young age, Kelsey continues to grow her brand as a journalist and has become a well-known personality in the area. Most recently, Kelsey was recognized as the "DMV Sports Media Person of the Year." For her work in sports media she's also been named to the WKYS "Top 30 Under 30" class! Kelsey has received executive citations in the state of Maryland and has been recognized for her broadcast work, academic achievements and for her community work.
Kelsey continues to be a pillar in the community helping to educate the next generation of young broadcasters. In addition to mentoring students at Doral College where she teaches, Kelsey serves on the Board of the Most Valuable Kids Organization and as an ambassador for the National Association of Black Journalists Sports Task Force.
Kelsey was born and raised in a sports family! The daughter of an avid Gramblinite, Kelsey grew up in a world of Bayou Classics and played a variety of sports growing up. She then went on to study Broadcast Journalism at the University of Maryland-College Park and Georgetown University. Today Kelsey works as a freelancer who has worked with SB Nation, NASCAR, ESPN Radio, FOX Sports Radio, the Big East Digital Network and lots more!
Kelsey is an instructor at Doral College where she teaches "Intro to Radio and Podcasting (MMC 2122 Radio)" and helps to manage the students work on Slam! Radio on Sirius XM Ch. 145.
Books Breaking Borders: Books To End Educational Bankruptcy is a community action project designed to donate books and educational resources to underprivileged children in the DMV. This is a project Kelsey founded as Rawlings Undergraduate Leadership Fellow at the University of Maryland. It is a project that she is currently leading donating books, kindles and other electronic devices to children and families impacted by the digital divide widened by the COVID-19 pandemic. To date the group has donated books and school supplies to over thousands of children in the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area.
